Beautiful walkthrough and I think the final result is most excellent; there's clearly been a lot of thought and discussion gone into the design and it has been beautifully executed.

Very well written walk through of your process grez. If I was the client, i'd feel at ease even if I was blind and couldn't see any of your work. You sound, calm thoughtful, confident and I imagine you'd say the same stuff if you were in a board room which is awesome.

The work itself is great too. The application of the rounded elements to a grid, posters and website was a really surprising use of the logo. The M and A was nicely handled too and Gotham rounded seems like the perfect choice. Well done.

Your blocky red and tan MA with the triangles cut out (upper left in your second round of sketches) stands out to me. It would have been interesting to see what you'd have done with that direction. I don't know the company well enough to know if it's appropriate for them or not, but I certainly like it.

Still, overall the project was resolved very well. The client has a role too in deciding and to me-If I was the client, I'd probably feel quite happy. (Maybe it would be nice to get a testamonial quote from them,
ask about their fears going into the project and they'll say how you helped them overcome those fears and delivered something great.)

This is a great idea. Really insightful, it's always good to see the working out a well as the end product. Not that we should have to justify ourselves to clients but it doesn't hurt to show the real value of our trade.

It looks like you had a good/close relationship with your client there which shows in the final output. A really strong identity, in my opinion.

The 'MEDIA and 'ACCESS' definitely work better at one size.

Great post! Very few people understand (or assume) the responsibility involved when creating a logo/mark/identity for a client. Budget or not, a designer needs to research, study and work at developing a functional logo with multiple applications in mind. Now that the internet has become the main media, many designers have overlooked the process and importance of legibility, size adaptations and color applications. I still believe that a logo has to fax well(bw), that's the final test. Communication, longevity and image are combined to create a successful logo. A logo should not be too trendy or overcomplicated.
